Kamchatka Fall Bear Hunt
Fall bear hunt lasts from August 20th through December 1st.
Our company’s limit for this hunt is 10 licenses.
Usually two or sometimes three hunting tours are conducted, but due to longer period of time there are no exact dates for tours in comparison to spring hunt. We coordinate the schedule with our hunters, taking to account their desires. But according to our experience and specific character of local conditions, a most optimum period for fall hunt is from August 20th through October 15th.
Arrived into Petropavlovsk, the hunters are met at the airport in Elizovo town. Then, according to weather conditions (flying or non-flying weather) we have the following action plan:
Non-flying forecast – the guests are accommodated in a hotel until weather gets better. By guests’ will, it is possible to organize a trip to thermal hot springs, a city tour with visiting hunter’s and souvenir stores for additional fee.
Flying forecast – after baggage is received, driving to a helipad of one of air companies and flying into our hunting camp located in 200 km away from Petropavlovsk in the south of the peninsula.
The flight is done by Mi-8 helicopter; flight time is 1 hour.
After arrival into the hunting camp, the guests are accommodated in a hotel, introduced to their guides, get briefing on safety rules, conditions and regulations of hunting, test their guns, get their outfit adjusted according to local condition, and have some rest.
By tradition, started by our company in 1996, no hunting is done on both arrival and departure days.
One guide serves two hunters during fall hunt. It does not make it difficult to have the tour a success and it relates to the fact that travelling across the territory is done by means of all-terrain vehicles and, unlike spring, at this season bears concentrate in spawning rivers and berry tundra.
The fall hunt daily routine:
1. 5:00 am Wake up
2. 6:00 am - 7:00 am Breakfast
3. 7:00 am Drive to a hunting site
4. 7:00 am – 10:00 pm Hunting
5. 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm Dinner
6. 11:00 pm Rest, discussing hunting.
During fall hunt after going into various places depending on game situation early in the morning, the hunters can come back into the Central Base, but they also can overnight in two other way camps located at a significant distance from each other. There are stationary hunter’s cabins with stove heating in all camps, that is why overnight in tents is not done for safety reasons, with the exception of snow sheep hunting in mountains.
